The Challenge
Our client was implementing a new turnkey lockbox system by Vicor. The client had in place a feeder system written in Microsoft FoxPro that fed lockbox client information into the old lockbox system. As Microsoft was no longer supporting FoxPro, one challenge of the engagement was to migrate the client database into a more supportable relational database management system, integrate the new database with the Vicor Lockbox system, and provide an easy data management tool for the database. The other major challenge of the engagement was that we were constrained to use only tools available with standard Linux distributions.
Our Approach
Ongoing support was a major concern for our client, and in-house experience with Linux was limited. We opted to implement a solution using MySQL & PHP, a combination commonly used in web development and more easily supported than other configurations. We used PERL scripts to migrate the data from the FoxPro database into the MySQL database.

Our solution was a cost-effective, clean solution that was implemented on-time and on-budget. Using standard technologies available on the Linux distributions, we were also able to leverage existing skills on the client's team.
