The Challenge
American Bank, a regional bank in the Southeast, had acquired ABC Bank and was in the process of
converting that bank's systems into their own core systems. ABC had an arrangement with another
bank, USA Bank, to track referrals made between the two banks so that the appropriate
relationship managers in the branches could receive the proper credit for the referrals. USA Bank
referral information needed to be captured by branch systems, incorporated into core systems,
mapped to referrer information from USA Bank and exported back to USA Bank. The project had to be
completed by the ABC Bank conversion date.
Our Approach
We were charged with integrating with two core systems and corporate data marts and performing ETL
development and quality assurance. Informatica is the ETL platform of choice at American Bank,
and we supplemented Informatica workflows with UNIX scripts where needed. Workflow functionality was
exhaustively tested using Quest Code Tester for Oracle and SQLUnit.
Software Technologies
Results
There was a small window between the project delivery targets and end-of-year change moratoriums,
so the extensive QA we did on the system ensured a smooth implementation. The project was delivered
on time, fully functional and to specification.
